Work Outfit of the Day – Classic White Button Up Shirt with Fun Pants

This is probably one of my favorite outfits to wear to work. Anything that looks relatively stylish, yet is comfortable…? Sign me up!
The pants feel like pajama pants and the classic white button up is essential (in anyone’s closet). If I’m feeling particularly bleh and just want to be completely comfortable, I’ll wear this outfit but switch out the high gray heels for some gray flats. Yes, I know gray flats are not nearly as sexy/awesome, but I’m at work! Can’t impress everyone every day. :-P

Clothes – H&M Off White Button-Up Blouse; New York and Co. Dress Slacks; Gray Pumps (front a random cheap shoe store in the mall).
Jewelry – Silver rings, heirlooms from mother and one from Kohls; Leaf Bracelet from Charlotte Russe.
Makeup – Mac Studio Finish Concealer, NC15; NYX HD Studio Finish Powder; Nars Goulue Blush; Benefit Hoola Bronzer; Lorac Mauve Eyeshadow; Benefit They’re Real! Mascarca; Maybelline Clear Mascara for brows; Maybelline The Elixer Gloss in Petal Push.

Lorac PRO Palette 2 And All Of Its Wonder

The moment I found out that there was going to be a Lorac PRO Palette 2 I nearly cried with joy. The original Lorac PRO Palette is by far the best palette I have ever owned. I was late to hop on the bandwagon, but once I did, I was amazed. It’s the most perfect palette for every day wear, special occasions, evening looks, etc. It’s just ridic.

Anywho, this post is about the second one, not the first one (which you should seriously have the first one too)! I’m on the email list for both Ulta and Lorac, so I got the updates from both. It was to be available online the Ulta website June 15, 2014. I literally woke up, rolled over to my phone and purchased it right away. I didn’t want to wait because those things sell out with out warning. I received this bad boy in the mail this past Saturday and I squealed at my mailbox… I anticipated making a blog post about it, so I took photos of it before I even got to play with it. It was a challenge, but I managed. Just as I suspected, it was glorious. Every color was like warm butta (butter)! So smooth, easy to blend, pigmented, just… ugh. I can’t. It’s just so good. I even swatched the colors on my neon white arm for you to see the awesomeness of these colors. You will also receive a deluxe sample size of Lorac’s incredible eyeshadow primer. Have a look!

*Epic Movie Music*

Open up and be dazzled.

From top left to bottom right: Buff, Lt. Brown, Cool Gray, Nectar, Plum, Navy, Charcoal, Black, (bottom row) Snow, Beige, Rose, Mocha, Chrome, Silver, Jade, Cocoa.

The packaging is exactly the same as the original, except the original is black and Lorac PRO 2 is light gray. Which I really like.

Old(left) and New(right), in comparison.

Swatches of the top/matte row, Buff, Lt. Brown, Cool Gray, Nectar, Plum, Navy, Charcoal, Black.

Swatches of the bottom/shimmery row, Snow, Beige, Rose, Mocha, Chrome, Silver, Jade, Cocoa. I apologize that the bottom row didn’t come out as well, the sun came out and I had to close the blinds in my house… this is what I got. Really bums me out, because the shimmery eyeshadows are STUNNING. I gasped when I swatched Beige, Rose and Chrome. No joke.

Luckily, I was going out the same night that I received the palette in the mail. I did a nice smokey eye, which of course, turned out amazing. The colors were so easy to blend! Even after hours of bar hopping and laughing it up, my eye shadow stayed on perfectly the entire night. I can’t wait to continue to discover new looks with these colors. Together, the Lorac PRO palettes shall take over the (make-up) world!!

Josh & Paise

My friend, Kristine is a talented sewing master and she has great online shop called Josh & Paise. She currently has beautiful pillows and quilts available for purchase, but from what I hear… she’ll be adding new goodies to her shop soon!

A perk to having friends that kick ass at handmade goods is getting said goods as gifts! Kristine was (way too) kind enough to give me this pillow set as a gift recently. I was ecstatic to put these beauties on my couch! Black, with grey polkadots on one side and a lovely grey with pleats on the other. Check out the love that went into the pillows and the packaging.

The pillows are a perfect addition to our living room. We used to have green and yellow pillows, with red/green blankets and then the blue rug you see in the photo. It was all just too much! Once we got the Josh & Paise pillows, the green pillows migrated elsewhere, the blankets were put away and now everything goes together a lot nicer. It’s amazing what a couple pretty pillows can do for your space.

Work Outfit of the Day – Pencil Skirt and Black Wedges

One of my favorite type of blog posts is a good ol’ “Outfit of the Day.” The only thing that I have noticed is that there aren’t many “Work Outfit of the Day” posts. As a working girl that has to stick to business casual attire, it’s nice to get ideas for work.

Somedays I put more effort into my appearance than others, but on this particular day… I didn’t feel like doing my hair or taking too much time to do my makeup. The best way for me to make up for the fact that my hair/makeup is less than impressive is to dress a bit nicer.

Clothes – Banana Republic black sweater; Merona black t-shirt; Kardashian Kollection pencil skirt; Jessica Simpson suede black wedges.
Jewelry – Necklace, made by my friend Mandey.; Gold rings, heirlooms from Grandma and Mom.
Makeup – Mac Studio Finish Concealer, NC15; Benefit Hoola Bronzer; Nars Deep Throat Blush; Benefit They’re Real Mascara; Maybelline Clear Mascara (for brows); Maybelline Touchable Taupe lipstick.

Every woman needs a pencil skirt, nothing will make you feel prettier. Plus, you can easily pair it with a t-shirt and the outfit will still look dressy!

The OC and Me

A blogger is born. She is ravishing, charming, witty, she is… my sister, Cera! Yep, my big sis has taken a step into the blogging world and is already off to a great start.

Before I get into this blog business, I would like to tell you a bit about my seester. Cera is actually 13 years older than me, yet we are as close as twin sisters. I was practically her shadow for my entire childhood, but you know she loved it…

She even held my hand when I had dirt all over my face.

Cera and I spend a lot of time quoting “Steel Magnolias”, “Friday” and “Airplane!”. We can’t get enough of watching bad 80s movies and/or romantic comedies, while drinking cherry rum and diet cokes.

We get along so well because we’re both a little weird… Cera is pretty much the funniest person I know. You may ask yourself, how could someone so beautiful, who spells their name Cera, when it should be “Sarah” be so funny and great. Well, it’s true. I grew up knowing how to truly laugh and be silly because of her influence. I don’t know many people that have no qualms about “embarrassing” themselves in public, just to make someone they love smile. Cera is that person.

Not only is Cera the peanut butter to my jelly, but she even birthed my other favorite person, my nephew Korbin. How can so much greatness come from one person?! Korbin is by far the most kind hearted, hilarious and inquisitive teenager I’ve ever met. I know for a fact it’s because of his amazing mother and badass auntie.

Basically, I know you will enjoy what Cera has to say as much as I do. Her blog focuses on the journey of becoming healthier, including healthy snacks, diabetic friendly meals and exercise options. Cera is ecstatic to share her thoughts and ideas with everyone and she is even more anxious to get feedback, so check her out! Her blog is still young, but a little love goes along way.

Without further ado, The OC and Me!

Rainy Day Tunes

I’m one of those weird people that absolutely loves the rain, so you can imagine my excitement when I found out that today was the first day of a week long downpour.

I was somewhat dreading my drive home from work this evening, as drivers tend to panic when the ground is wet. So I turned my iPod on shuffle and it was as if it knew what I wanted to listen to… I couldn’t have chosen better music for driving in the rain. Nothing was ever skipped or started, my little green iPod just played these exact songs back to back. Plus, isn’t it the best when you can rediscover music that you already have? I had to share the amazingness.

p.s. I’m sure there’s a way for me to create an actual playlist, but I wanted to get these songs up here as fast as possible, with out going Google crazy for playlist how-tos. :-)

Enjoy!

Chop it off!

I change my hair almost as often as I change my underwear. I’ve been a brunette, blonde, red head and every shade in between. My most recent look has been long blonde hair. Nothing too exciting, but I haven’t been blonde since I was 18 and I don’t usually have patience for growing my hair too long. As much as I had been anticipating having long hair, once I had it, it didn’t really matter.

It annoyed me more than anything with it’s weight and ability to always get in the way. So, I decided to cut off a good 8 inches. I thought I would feel regret and be sad that more than a years worth of growth would be gone, but that was not the case. My head feels 5 pounds lighter and it’s great!

I kept the blonde at first, but I took the plunge and went back to what feels the most me, red.

I’m thinking I should make a little series about my new hair adventures. I haven’t had my hair this short for a long time and I’ve never had very impressive hair styling skills, so now is the time to figure it out!
